EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY WITH BOLTHOUSE FARMS

Position:        Assistant Payroll Manager

Summary: (This is not an entry level position)
The Payroll Assistant Manager will supervise a department of 2 Payroll Clerks. This
position reports to the AP/Payroll Manager and interacts with all levels of the Corporation
and outside agencies.

Responsibilities:
Supervise the Payroll team and participate in the weekly processing of payroll to ensure
timely and accurate processing of all payroll checks.
Lead the Payroll team and identify opportunities for improvement and training.
Create/review documentation of departmental policies and procedures and ensure
compliance. Update as necessary.
Assist in creation of and reporting on departmental matrices and best practice indicators.
Act as primary contact on state and federal tax issues and year end audits.
Perform W-2 and year end reporting working with ADP to ensure all non-taxable and
taxable fringe benefits and other items are recorded correctly.
Evaluate and make recommendations to AP/Payroll Manager to strengthen departmental
controls.
Assist in creating/updating Sarbanes-Oxley Act controls and narrative write-ups. Ensure
compliance in all areas.
Provide a high level of service to internal customers and outside agencies when required.
Process deferred comp and 401K information reporting all information in a timely manner.
This includes verifying and transmitting employer match.
Review payroll preview for trends and reasonableness. Verify that there are no errors and
in balance before approving for final processing by ADP.
Evaluate and train all personnel to be able to handle all areas of Payroll processing and
ensuring that all duties have backups in place. Rotate positions at least every 3-4 months.
Ensure all garnishments, tax levies, wage orders, child/spousal support are responded to
and processed timely. Ensure all documentation is on file in case of disputes.
Create General Ledger interface from ADP GL to JD Edwards each week. Create other
journal entries as required.
Oversee and submit changes to the Canadian payroll as necessary. This payroll runs
without intervention weekly unless a change is required, i.e., new hire, termination,
reallocation of regular to sick/vacation hours, etc.
Assist AP/Payroll Manager with implementation of new processes, benefits, etc., as
required by senior management, ADP, and/or HR.
Work with ADP to set up new earnings and/or deduction codes ensuring that the setup
includes the proper taxation and W-2 reporting.

Qualifications:
Minimum AA degree or HS diploma with equivalent experience
5-10 years Payroll experience in a fast pace, large company – minimum of 1000
employees
Knowledge of Payroll and Federal and State tax regulations and GAAP reporting
requirements
Knowledge of office administration and procedures
Proficient with Microsoft office suite, especially Excel
Must have good communication and problem solving skills
Organization and attention to detail attributes are a MUST
Ability to work in a high volume, fast pace environment
Self-starter with minimum supervision
Experience with W-2 reporting and taxable fringe benefits.
Experience with automated timekeeping systems for 1000+ employees, preferably
KRONOS
Experience with ad hoc report writing software, preferable ADP report writing

Preferred Qualifications
Experience with ADP Enterprise
Knowledge of state and federal withholding and unemployment tax regulations
Experience with KRONOS timekeeping system
Prior Payroll supervisory experience
Canadian payroll experience
